Another Way

A different path to rural living

At the historic Monastery of Poretsou, 800 meters above sea level, we create a living space of learning, creativity, and reconnection with nature. Young people from across Europe come together to explore sustainable living, community life, and hands-on ecological practices — helping to regenerate both land and local culture.

What We Do

Through practical, experiential programs, we cultivate skills for a sustainable future and help revive a once-abandoned mountain area.

Designing ecological gardens, regenerating soil, managing water and natural resources.

Plant-based, seasonal cooking using ingredients from our gardens, fields, and forests.

Collaborations with artisans and residents to preserve traditional crafts and revive local culture.

Simple, responsible everyday practices that reduce our environmental footprint.

Volunteers are at the heart of Another Way. More than 100 volunteers from over 20 countries have already contributed to our gardens, workshops, eco-building, cooking, and community projects.

Live simply, learn by doing, exchange with others, and become part of a growing community shaping a more conscious way of life.

The Hub

A Revived Monastery

Our restored 17th-century monastery now serves as an open, secular cultural and ecological hub. A place where creativity meets calmness — and where abandoned rural spaces come back to life through solidarity, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
